About
I'm Amogh Panhale, a software engineer and incoming M.Sc. Computer Science student at the University of Alberta. I like turning messy problems into things that are fast, correct, and actually get used — across reinforcement learning, computer vision, backend systems, and applied LLMs.
I've built RL training environments at Neobotics, HIPAA-compliant on-device medical imaging at Wound³, and behavioral-research tooling for the VASP Lab. I'm looking for a Summer 2027 internship where I can ship real features, learn from strong engineers, and own problems end to end. I write about what I build on the blog.
Experience
Software Engineer Intern · Neobotics Inc. · Remote
May 2026 — Sep 2026- Architected an open-source MuJoCo RL agent training environment to replace a legacy Unity simulation.
- Scaled simulation to 1,000 parallel environments at 25,000 steps/sec.
- Cut agent training time from 30 to 18 minutes to reach a 32s lap time at 89% success.
- Stood up CI with automated tests and linting on every PR (92% coverage).
Research Assistant · VASP Lab · University of Alberta
Feb 2025 — Dec 2025- Maintained visual-attention research code (MATLAB, Python, Kotlin, Swift) for 8 researchers.
- Automated processing of 2,800 survey documents with a picture-to-spreadsheet mobile pipeline.
- Built an Android TikTok clone logging swipe images and millisecond watch times on a background thread.
- Mentored one developer for four months in lab methodologies and troubleshooting.
Software Engineer Intern · Wound³ · Edmonton
Jun 2024 — Jan 2025- Built HIPAA-compliant on-device medical software to measure and track chronic wounds.
- Engineered a Python pipeline around a quantized transformer that masks wounds in under 500ms.
- Deployed an edge-preserving C++ filter that cut 3D wound-reconstruction noise by 2.4 dB.
- Shipped on-device OpenCV capture + segmentation that removed all cloud costs.
